A woman who goes by the name jensally on TikTok, with the handle @jen.sally, posted a video in which she said she received a raw chicken sandwich from a Wendy’s restaurant. She said she has emailed the company’s corporate office and does not plan to return.
In the video, the woman is seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle, addressing the camera. On-screen text reads, “Count your damn days @Wendy’s! 🤬”. The video’s caption says, “@Wendy’s Absolutely disgusting!” along with several hashtags.
She said she and her husband were heading to an antique mall and stopped at a Wendy’s drive-through to grab food to go. Both had ordered chicken sandwich meals, but she said she was handed chicken nuggets instead.
She said the sandwich she received after returning to the counter was raw
The woman said she initially treated the mix-up as a minor issue. “I said, no big deal, mistakes happen. I’m the most patient person when it comes to the food industry or any other things,” she said in the video. “I know mistakes happen.”
She added that she believes food safety is different from ordinary service errors. “When it’s food, you can’t be messing with people’s food,” she said.
She said her husband stopped the vehicle so she could go inside and tell the staff about the order. She said the employees “look at me like I had 3 eyeballs” and spent about five minutes arguing about who got the order wrong. She said she asked for her sandwich, and an employee handed her a bag with a chicken sandwich in it.
The woman said they then got back in the truck and drove onto the interstate. She said that when she began eating the sandwich, she found the chicken was raw. She turned the camera around and zoomed in on the sandwich, which appeared to show undercooked chicken. Wendy’s has drawn this kind of food-safety complaint before on TikTok, such as when a user said she found a fly inside a Wendy’s chicken nugget after eating two.
“It is f–king raw. Look at that raw chicken in my chicken sandwich. Y’all trying to kill people? That’s salmonella,” she said in the video.
She said serving raw chicken is a line she will not accept. “Like I said, I’m the most patient person when it comes to things because mistakes happen. Serving raw chicken to consumers is not one of them. I— that’s a hill I will die on,” she said.
She said she has already emailed Wendy’s corporate office. “I’ve emailed it to corporate because you need some accountability. Y’all need some new training and some new management over there,” she said. “You need to have damn common sense. Common sense. Don’t be serving raw chicken to people.”
The woman said she felt sick after taking a bite. She also said the meal cost $30 and questioned whether going back to the restaurant would accomplish anything. “What am I gonna do, go back there and say, hey, this is raw chicken? They’re gonna say, hey, you want another one? No, I don’t,” she said.
She ended the video by saying she is done with the chain. “Screw you, Wendy’s. I’m out. Corporate, I will not be going back to Wendy’s. I will be telling corporate. Already did. I already did,” she said.
The video’s caption also includes the hashtags #wendys, #raw, #foodpoisioning, #disgusting, and #terribleservice.
