A TikTok creator, who appears to be a bartender and goes by the name Sclub7 with the handle @andwhataboutitbby, recently shared her experiences with “lonely bar regulars” in a video. The video, featuring the creator speaking directly to the camera, carried on-screen text that read, “As a bartender ur biggest worry will be a bar regular.” She wore a black long-sleeved shirt with light blue and white horizontal stripes and had curly brown hair.

The bartender said she has been working on and off in the industry for the past ten years. She explained that her biggest challenge, or “biggest opp,” is always a “lonely bar regular,” not the “cool” ones. She stated these individuals are “getting no attention from anywhere else in their life.”

The creator said these lonely regulars “are about to make you their center of attention” and “assume that your time at your job is always, always theirs.” She recounted having to “literally grip up 5 different men” in the last month and a half to explain the situation. She clarified, “for me it’s men,” when referring to these interactions.

Bartender clarifies her role as customer service, not therapy

The bartender said she explained to these men that “they have this dynamic misconstrued,” or perhaps she “made them feel comfortable to, to act this way.” She emphasized that her role is “customer service” and “isn’t therapy.” She added, “I’m giving you a drink and I’m going about my day.”

She described how, after a regular has been coming in and seeing her every shift for two or three months, “you can tell those wheels are about to turn.” At this point, she said, they “are about to start assuming your behavior,” especially if she talks to them a lot or to other people. The creator used expressive hand gestures throughout her explanation to highlight her points.

The bartender shared a specific incident that occurred “this week” involving a man who got “genuinely upset because I forgot that he drove a Corvette.” She described his reaction as “almost physical that I forgot that what car he drives.”

She expressed that she enjoys bar regulars and that they “could have been cool.” However, she stated, “You’re making this sh–t weird by assuming that my time is yours. Don’t, don’t ever do that.” She used an analogy, referencing the children’s book “When You Give a Mouse a Cookie,” saying, “When you give a motherf–ker an inch, they’re gonna take the whole mile.”

The creator concluded her video by asserting, “It is not your duty to save them from the life that they have literally made for themselves.” She added, “They are lonely for a reason. Give them their drink and let them be.”

Many viewers appeared to resonate with the bartender’s experience, sharing their own observations in the comments section of the video.

One commenter wrote, “ALWAYS REMEMBER: When you have a new regular out of the blue its bc he can’t go back to his old spot.” Another viewer stated, “I hate all regulars idc.”

A third person shared a similar sentiment, commenting, “I will die on this hill. A single man regular, no matter his age, is going to take the most amount of time & energy from you, they will say inappropriate things & then tip you $3 after 3 hours. It should be illegal.” Another user added, “i hate being new and having to just blindly like these ppl.”

Regarding the Corvette incident, one commenter offered a perspective, saying, “He got mad that you didn’t remember he drove a Corvette because he thought that was his biggest selling point and you didn’t even notice.” Many comments also touched on tipping habits, with one viewer writing, “And they NEVERRRRRRRR tip well.” Tipping complaints like these are a recurring theme for bartenders, with one showing a $26 receipt where a $0 tip was written as four zeros.
