A dashcam video posted by a TikTok creator who goes by “Roman” and uses the handle @romantheegreat appears to show a couple helping pull people from an overturned car on Interstate 90 near Easton, Washington, after first noticing the same vehicle driving erratically about 45 minutes earlier. The video’s caption says the couple was “driving down i90 east by Easton Washington coming from Seattle” when they witnessed the accident, and that the driver of the crashed vehicle later said he “fell asleep behind the wheel.”
In the clip, a male driver exclaims, “Oh shit!” as a blue car in the distance swerves off the road and rolls onto its side on the grassy shoulder. A female passenger asks, “What?” and the male driver repeats, “Oh shit!” before stating, “I just watched that car accident.” The footage then shows the male driver exiting the car and approaching the overturned blue vehicle, where another man appears to already be trying to open the door. The two men seem to work together to open the door and help a third person, apparently the driver of the overturned car, get out. A baby’s cries can be heard from the dashcam car, and the female passenger appears to be on her phone, possibly calling for help.
A later segment of the video is labeled “45 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR ACCIDENT” and shows the same couple stuck in traffic on a different part of the highway. The male driver, wearing a Dodgers cap, points out a blue Kia in front of them that is circled in red on the screen. On-screen text reads, “I watched him drive very weird for a few minutes where he would accelerate too quick and slam his brakes.” The male driver comments, “This Kia drives so weird,” and adds, “He’s the whole time been going, ‘Woo woo woo woo woo,'” apparently mimicking the other driver’s behavior.
Commenters react to the couple’s decision to stop and help
The video’s caption states that the driver of the crashed vehicle “said he fell asleep behind the wheel and swerved off the road,” and that “that same car we seen about 45 minutes prior in traffic driving very weird to a point where I called it out.” The clip appears to document both the earlier observation of the Kia’s driving and the later accident and rescue effort on the same stretch of I-90. Dashcam footage of highway crashes and their aftermath continues to draw attention, as a Louisiana woman in a car accident claims the other driver threatened her with ice and said she works for ICE.
Commenters on the video’s page reacted to the clip. One wrote, “The baby in the back,” while another said, “Wow, you didn’t even hesitate to help! Good on you.” A third commenter appeared to take a different view, writing, “nope. Not pulling over ever with a new baby and a wife.”
Other comments focused on details from the footage. One commenter wrote, “If he leaves his wipers on with a dry windscreen he’s going to get micro scratches in the glass… that could affect the resale value 🤦🏻♂️.” Another suggested a safety change to vehicles, writing, “I’m a firm believer that car should have a safety feature that anytime the airbags deploy the car should automatically unlock. I witnessed a car accident where we had to smash the windows this is the only way we could get into the car because the driver was incapacitated.” The safety of drivers at their vehicles is a recurring concern, as an Atlanta car owner says two men attempted to open his door before he noticed they had no license plate and one had a firearm.
A final commenter wrote, “why did I think he was an Uber driver at first.” The video does not indicate whether the couple or the person who filmed the clip has any connection to Uber.
