A man who appears to be based in Boston posted a TikTok video showing two people on his porch: a female police officer in uniform and a man the video’s on-screen text refers to as a “clinician.” The person filming said he was recording “for my safety.” The video was posted under the handle @bellobeytt, with the creator identified in the profile as “Coach Yusi.”
According to the video’s creator, the video’s on-screen text reads: ‘Cops and “clinician” harassing me asking about my mom 🤦♂️’. The video’s public caption reads: “Cops bothering me everyday 😭🤦♂️ #copwatch #bostonma #1stamendment #xyzbca #policemisconduct”. The video appears to show the person filming standing at his doorway, with the two visitors on the porch outside.
The video does not name the officers, the clinician, the police department, or the neighborhood. It does not show what happened before or after the exchange captured in the clip.
The exchange on the porch
The video begins with the person filming greeting the two visitors. “Hi. Hi, how are you?” he said. “Just recording for my safety.” The female officer, who appears to be wearing glasses and a police uniform, then asked, “Is your mom here?”
The person filming responded, “I understand that. Okay, so you’re not gonna tell me who you are?” The female officer replied, “No.” The person filming then said, “Okay, all right. Thank you. Thank you.”
The person filming then asked, “Okay, and you guys just move here?” The female officer replied, “I’m not gonna answer that either.” The male officer behind her then said, “All right, we’re gonna be back a couple times until we see your mom.”
The person filming responded, “That’s okay. If you don’t— do you want us to come back later?” The female officer then said, “Say we’re not going to come back.” The wording of that line is not entirely clear in the clip, and the video does not show what prompted the exchange.
The person filming then said, “This is private property, so like, we’re not coming in. I want you guys off my property.” The female officer, who appears to be smiling slightly, then said, “And, um, I don’t think you know how this works. Thanks.” The person filming concluded, “Thank you very much.” The video ends with the person filming closing the door.
What the video does and does not show
The video does not show the officers or the clinician entering the home. It does not show any force being used. It does not show the person filming being detained, cited, or arrested. It does not show the officers explaining why they were there beyond the female officer’s question about the person filming’s mother. Filming a police visit at a private residence is not the only way these encounters get recorded, as a person filming captured a woman driving away before officers arrived after they were called about kids left in a hot car.
The video does not identify the department the officers appear to work for, the agency the clinician appears to work for, or the reason the two were at the address. The on-screen text and the caption describe the visit as harassment and as police misconduct, but the video itself does not show any independent evidence supporting those claims.
The video also does not show what the person filming’s mother’s situation is, whether she lives at the address, or why the officers were asking about her. The video does not show how many times the officers had visited before, despite the caption claiming they had been “bothering” the person filming “everyday.”
The video drew a number of comments from viewers, several of which repeated the female officer’s line back at the person filming.
“I don’t think you know how this works,” one commenter wrote, echoing the officer’s words.
Others focused on the officer’s apparent reaction. “she was like, Damn! he knows his rights!!!!!!!” one commenter wrote. “he knew exactly how this works…..” another wrote. “that’s exactly how it works,” a third commenter added.
One commenter appeared to read the female officer’s slight smile as a sign of approval. “That smile from that police officer was great trust me when I say she’s proud of you she don’t want to be there with those people I fact she probably hates them but she’s just doing her job,” the commenter wrote.
Another commenter asked a question the video does not answer: “what is a clinician”. The on-screen text refers to the second man as a “clinician,” but the video does not explain what role he was playing or which agency he may have been affiliated with.
