A gas station worker named Lacy, who posts on TikTok under the handle @lilmsantisocial, says a man parked a red pickup truck in front of the store’s doors during her overnight shift. In the video, Lacy said the man had been inside the store when she arrived, then moved his truck from the back of the lot to a spot directly in front of the entrance. On-screen text in the video reads, “Always trust your instincts in this line of work.”
Lacy said in the video that she works the overnight shift from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. She said she arrived at the station at 10 p.m. and that at around 11:45 p.m., she noticed a man standing near the second register. She said she initially assumed he was with a second-shift employee who was about to leave.
Lacy said the employee left, but the man stayed. She said she eventually asked him, “Are you waiting for somebody or something?” According to Lacy, the man replied, “no, I’m just looking through my phone.” She said she could not leave the front of the store because she could not leave him alone there.
Lacy says truck moved from back of lot to directly outside the doors
Lacy said the man walked out of the store about five minutes later, and she thought he had left. She said she had noticed a red pickup truck parked on the back side of the parking lot when she first pulled in, and that she did not think anything of it until she realized it had been sitting there for over 30 minutes.
She said that on the overnight shift, a vehicle sitting that long usually means someone is passed out, likely drunk, sleeping one off. But she said a few minutes later, she looked up and saw that the truck had moved to the parking spot directly in front of the doors. Being followed by a man in a truck is a fear many women share, as an Oklahoma woman flipped off a man who was tailing her in a truck.
The video shows a nighttime exterior shot of the gas station, with gas pumps under a canopy and a red pickup truck parked in front of the store’s entrance. Lacy said in the video, “well, that’s, that’s f–king sketchy.” She said the man had moved to a spot “right in front of me where you can see me, and you have not shown your face in the store.”
Lacy said she went outside to get something and took a peek in the truck to see if someone might be passed out. She said the man “ducked his head down and was kind of trying to hide from me,” but she said she recognized him as the same man who had been inside the store earlier.
Back inside the store, Lacy said the man had “literally been there for 2 hours now.” She said the situation was “f–king creepy,” especially for a “female in here working by herself in the middle of f–king nowhere in the middle of the damn night.” She said people in such situations should “at least go inside and tell the cashier, hey, I’m gonna be chilling outside for a little bit, or make contact to let them know you’re not a f–king weirdo.” Lacy’s wariness of a stranger loitering alone at night echoes how other women have confronted threatening men on camera, like an Austin woman who accused a man of falsely claiming to be her Uber driver to approach her.
The video’s caption reads, “it’s usually nothing, until it isn’t…” Lacy ended the video by reiterating that the truck had moved from the back of the lot to directly in front of the doors.
Commenters react to the overnight shift story
Viewers left a range of comments on the video. One person wrote, “There should always be atleast two people for every shift.” Another wrote, “Why are we letting anybody work by themselves overnight?”
One commenter wrote, “call the cops.” Another wrote, “Unfortunately he’ll be back. He was just working out the details during this visit.”
One commenter shared a longer story about her own experience: “at my local gas station they always had the girls working by themselves on night shift. I became friends with both of them and when I would doordash at night I would always sit in the gas station parking lot waiting for orders so that way there was always a car there. According to the video’s creator, we live in a bad area and they’ve been robbed at gunpoint before. when the owner finally noticed that I was always there he told me I couldn’t sit there anymore. so I would sit across the street by Taco Bell and I always told the girls to call me if anything was weird and I would drive over. but how lame of the owner. and I’ll share a funny story in another comment below”
Another commenter offered a warning about the video itself: “You posted your shift hours, and your other videos show a business name and the city. Be careful!”
