A TikTok video shows a man sharing his frustrations as a bartender, highlighting common customer misconceptions about ordering drinks. The man, speaking directly to the camera from inside a car, began by stating a central theme. On-screen text in the video also reads, “People don’t know what they’re ordering at bars.”
The creator said in the video, “People don’t know what they’re ordering. People have no clue what they’re ordering.” He then proceeded to act out scenarios from his experience, mimicking both himself and his customers. He recounted one instance where a customer asked, “Can I have an Old Fashioned?”
The man, portraying himself as the bartender, said he then asked, “Yeah, what, uh, what whiskey would you like with that?” The customer, whom the man mimicked using a whiny voice, replied, “Whatever’s cheapest.” The man described making a standard Old Fashioned with “some bitters, simple whiskey, rock, stir, orange rind.”

The man then mimicked the customer’s reaction, saying, “He’s watching me like, like, here you go.” The customer then complained, “You forgot the sweet vermouth.” The man, appearing exasperated, responded, “No, I didn’t. Do you want a Manhattan?” The customer insisted, “No, an Old Fashioned,” to which the man clarified, “That’s an Old Fashioned.”
He moved on to another common issue, stating that other customers order a martini. He explained that a martini “is a specialty cocktail and it says martini, comes in a martini glass.” He said he serves it “in a martini glass, so it’s up.” The customer then asked, “Is this a shot?” The martini’s presentation can also surprise even the person making it, as one patron filmed a bartender’s espresso martini that developed a thick light foam overflowing the glass.
According to the video’s creator, the man, as the bartender, replied, “No, that’s, that’s drink.” He described the customer pointing to another patron and saying, “Theirs looks bigger,” referring to “somebody drinking like a tall Tito’s soda.” The man then mimicked the customer’s childish tone, repeating, “Their drink looks bigger.”
The man, still portraying the bartender, asked the customer, “Are you 4? Are you 4 years old? You have 3 ounces of straight liquor right there.” The customer continued to whine, as mimicked by the man, “I didn’t realize this was a small drink. Are you 4 years old? Are you 4 years old? What, what do you— small drink is small. I want a big one. I want a big drink.”
The man concluded his video by sarcastically addressing such customers, saying, “You disgust me. You disgust me. Can you make this bigger?” He then, still in character as the bartender, said, “Gladly. I will gladly pour your martini into a tall pint glass and top it with club soda. I’m sure that’s going to taste amazing. Here you go. Love to do it for you. Love to do it for you.”
He reiterated his main point in the video, stating, “People just— people just don’t know what they’re ordering. People have— have no idea.” He added, “And they think— and some people think they do, and they ask you for sweet vermouth in their Old Fashioneds. What the h–l?” The video ends with the man forming a heart shape with his hands and saying, “Love.” The video’s caption says, “I need a drink
