A TikTok creator who goes by the name “Ali” with the handle @alicat_808 posted a video showing a small mouse inside her leftover coffee cup while she was sitting in her car late at night. In the clip, which she titled “My Midnight Horror” with on-screen text, Ali appears visibly shaken as she films the rodent in the clear plastic cup sitting in her car’s center console.
Ali said in the video that she had come out to her car to check on something at midnight when she noticed the mouse. “I just came out to my car to look at something. It is 12:00 at night,” she said. She then turned the camera toward the cup and reacted with shock. “Look at what is in my leftover coffee,” she said. “Oh my God, there is a mouse in my coffee! What?”
She explained that the mouse “was staring at me when I opened my door.” Clearly distressed, she asked, “What do I do? Do I burn my car down? What do I do?” She added that she did not think she would be able to sleep, saying, “I’m not gonna be able to sleep now knowing that there’s a mouse in my car.” She also stated firmly, “I’m not picking that cup up.”
Ali joked that the mouse seemed to be getting a caffeine boost from the drink
The video then shows a close-up of the cup, in which a small grey mouse appears to be partially submerged in the light-brown liquid, with its head and front paws visible above the surface. Ali watched the mouse and commented on its movements. “What’s he doing? I swear he just had a grip on that straw,” she said. She also observed, “And I also swear that he is way more active now than he was when I first got in this car.”
Ali then joked about the possibility that the caffeine in the coffee was affecting the mouse. “Like, is he downing 50 milligrams of caffeine and like getting a second wind about to jump out in my face?” she asked. She also made a sarcastic comment about the brand of the coffee, saying, “This will be a testament on how good Starbucks Cold Brew Medium Roast is.”
As the mouse continued to move in the cup, Ali exclaimed, “Lord, Lord, he’s— I bet he’s about amped up right now.” She then joked, “Like, let me get a shot of this and them collagen peptides, I’ll be a new man in just a minute.” She pointed out the mouse’s activity to viewers, saying, “I’m fixing to— look at him, he’s raising up, he’s raising that. That straw’s coming up, y’all. Look at that straw.”
The video’s caption and comment section drew humor from the situation
Ali also made a dark joke about the situation, saying, “We cannot say that this is not tested on animals.” She then addressed the mouse directly, saying, “No, no, no, uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh. Don’t you, don’t you look at me like that.” She ended the video by imagining how she might explain her night to others, asking rhetorically, “What’d you do Saturday night? Oh, nothing. Just hung out with my pet car mouse and— I gotta go to bed.”
The video’s public caption read: “Nothing says midnight horror quite like finding a mouse swimming in your leftover coffee. 🐭☕️😭 I will never emotionally recover from this. 😂 @Starbucks even the mice 🐁 like your medium roast cold brew! He was hyped UP! #viralvideo #fyp #cantmakethisup #mouse”
Viewers who watched the clip left a range of humorous comments. One commenter joked, “If you give a mouse a coffee, he’s going to ask to go to Target…🚗 🛍️” Another wrote, “He’s looking at you like ‘B!tch, you going to help a brother out?!'” One person simply asked, “Is … he ok” Ali’s clip joins a wave of TikTok food-discovery videos, like one user who found a fly inside a Wendy’s chicken nugget after eating two.
Others made jokes about the mouse’s apparent state. One commenter wrote, “‘What’s he doing?’ I’ll tell you Ali, he’s DROWNING!! Let him go… 😂😂” Another referenced the animated film, saying, “Ratatouille just drinking his morning coffee before his shift 😂” Yet another commenter joked, “Is that a pumpkin spice latte cause he may just be looking for a ride to TJMaxx” Small creatures turning up in unexpected places is a recurring theme for people filming their reactions, as when a Calabasas hotel guest woke up surrounded by ants.
