Sarah Stusek, a Washington D.C.-based TikToker with over 323,000 followers, is facing major online backlash after posting an anniversary dinner video that showed a fatal hit-and-run scene unfolding right outside the restaurant. She made jokes throughout the clip. The video has since been deleted, but not before it spread across social media.

According to the New York Post, Stusek and her husband Eddie were celebrating their anniversary at Oak Steakhouse in Alexandria, Virginia on the evening of April 20. A 62-year-old woman had just been struck and killed by a car at the intersection right outside the restaurant. Officers had blocked off the area with yellow caution tape, and the victim’s body was still covered in the street when Stusek began filming.

“I didn’t plan on filming our anniversary dinner but when we walked up there was a dead body outside, so I knew it was going to be an eventful one,” Stusek said at the start of the clip. The couple proceeded to order oysters and other dishes as police worked the scene behind them. At one point, Stusek remarked, “We enjoyed our evening under the red and blue strobe light.” The video ended with the couple hugging, officers still visible in the background. “We split the bill like every good couple does on their anniversary and walked home under the red and blue lights,” she concluded.

What police said about the crash

The Alexandria Police Department confirmed the fatal crash occurred at 5:26 p.m. at the intersection of North Saint Asaph and Montgomery Streets. A female pedestrian was found with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 46-year-old man in a black Chevrolet Suburban, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The victim’s name has not been publicly released, and the investigation is ongoing.

The internet’s reaction

The deleted video was reposted to Reddit, where it quickly went viral and drew a wave of anger. Commenters on Stusek’s other posts called her out directly. “Just moving right past that other diabolical video?” one TikToker wrote under a clip she posted days later. Others compared her to Logan Paul, who filmed himself near a body in Japan’s Aokigahara forest back in 2017.

Paul eventually deleted the video and issued a public apology. “Is this the new Logan Paul?” one commenter wrote. Another urged her to “reflect upon yourself and think about how you can be a better person.”

Stusek has not publicly addressed the controversy. Neither People nor the Post received a response to their requests for comment.

Who is Sarah Stusek?

The backlash is notable given Stusek’s public image before this incident. People had previously profiled her in December 2025 for paying off more than $75,000 in overdue student lunch balances across the U.S., work she started sharing on TikTok in 2022. She also runs a production company called Stusek Studios. That goodwill reputation made the anniversary video hit differently for many of her long-time followers, some of whom said they felt blindsided by her response to the tragedy outside the restaurant. The contrast hasn’t gone unnoticed online, with users pointing out the gap between her charity-focused content and how she handled herself that evening in Alexandria
