A TikTok creator who goes by the handle @leland.jw posted a video showing his reaction after finding several protein versions of well-known snack foods inside a grocery store. In the clip, which appears to have been filmed inside a large retail grocery store, the creator and a woman who is with him walk through the aisles and look at the products on the shelves.
The creator, who appears to be a man wearing a black hoodie, serves as the main speaker in the video. He begins the clip by saying, “You gotta be f—ing kidding me. You can’t be serious.” He then holds up a bag of Goldfish Protein Cheddar crackers, showing the label to the camera, and says, “Protein f—ing Goldfish. They’re the same calories as normal Goldfish.”
The man then appears to find another variety of the crackers. He pulls out a bag of Goldfish Protein Pizza and says, “No f—ing way. Pizza protein Goldfish, bro.” A woman who is with him then appears on camera next to him, holding a package of Elf Sandwich Cookies, and says, “Elf sandwich cookies.” The man, who appears to still be focused on the protein Goldfish, responds, “You have to be your lowest f—ing point to eat protein Goldfish pizza flavored. It, it seriously cannot get worse than that.”
The video then shows a display of Cheerios Protein cereal boxes
Just after he says the situation cannot get worse, the man turns his attention to a display of cereal boxes. He says, “Oh my God, I was about to end the video. Stop.” He then points to boxes of Cheerios Protein, which appear to come in several flavors, including Cookies & Crème, Strawberry, and Honey Nut. He concludes the video by saying, “Protein Cheerios. What is happening?” as he continues to look at the cereal boxes.
The video’s caption reads, “What is going on bro #lelandw #gymmotivation #delts #gym #trendy”. The video appears to have drawn a range of responses from viewers in its comment section, with some agreeing with the creator’s reaction and others offering a different take on the products.
One commenter wrote, “nah THIS is rock bottom bro😭”. Another viewer commented, “all this protein slop is so bad i don’t understand it just eat chicken”. A third commenter simply wrote, “protien shampoo”. One commenter’s suggestion to just eat chicken has already been acted on elsewhere, with a Texas woman discovering P Terry’s crispy chicken bites have 42 grams of protein in an 8 count.
Some commenters also appeared to question the nutritional claims on the products. One person wrote, “They really putting protein in big letters but has less 10 grams 💀”. However, not all of the responses were negative. One commenter offered a different opinion, writing, “nah the protein cheerios are low key gas”. Another viewer commented on a different nutritional need, writing, “bro i want this but fiber, needa fiber epidemic”. The skepticism about protein-branded snacks extends beyond the cereal aisle, as a man revealed Babybel Protein has only 0.2 grams more protein than the light version.
