A restaurant server’s video of a table left by a group of teenage boys is making people furious online. The clip, posted by Parker Galen on TikTok under the handle @receipt.paper.man, has now been watched 1.5 million times.
In the video, Galen shows every glass at the table filled completely to the brim with water, right before the group walked out. On screen, Galen explained: “A group of teenage boys filled their cups up to the absolute brim right before leaving so that I can’t bus the table without spilling water.” In the caption, Galen kept it short: “All I can do is laugh.”
The clip spread fast. Viewers were quick to side with the server, with one writing, “Idk why people gotta be so disrespectful.” A fellow server summed it up bluntly in the comments: “A table of teenage boys will either be the easiest of the night or the most nightmarish.” One non-server viewer admitted they would have walked off the job entirely over something like this.
Why pranking servers is no joke
As BroBible noted, this kind of customer behavior has been gaining traction online. Past viral videos have shown diners at Olive Garden refusing to say “when” while cheese was being grated, and a Chili’s customer staging an elaborate fake tip to mess with a server’s head. In the Chili’s case, the prank apparently backfired in the best way possible, with the server getting a promotion after the customer made an exaggerated post praising the staff.
But not every prank has a happy ending for the person on the receiving end. A server writing for Food & Wine laid out the most hurtful things customers pull, many of which they had personally gone through. The list included bringing out a big stack of cash and then quietly removing bills whenever they judged the service lacking, tipping with fake money, and the especially mean trick of dropping a tip inside a glass of water. Loosening the salt and pepper shakers was flagged as the worst of all, since it creates a mess that ruins the meal for every other customer at the table, not just the server.
The writer’s advice was simple: “If you want to make your server laugh, stick with the dad jokes.” Commenters on Galen’s video echoed that, with one pointing out that these teenagers “went out of [their] way to do that just for your inconvenience.” Another said the whole thing was a reminder that everyone should work in food service at least once in their lives, if only to understand what it’s actually like. The brim-full water glasses prank may not compare to a public figure suddenly going quiet and leaving people confused, but for a server just trying to do their job, it landed just as badly.
