A flight attendant, who appears to be named Riley Stellato and uses the handle @rileydunworthstellato, recently expressed her frustrations in a viral TikTok video regarding how passengers order coffee on planes. In the clip, Stellato, dressed in pink pajamas, spoke directly to the camera about what she described as one of her “biggest pet peeves.” On-screen text in the video read “COFFEE ON THE PLANE” alongside three coffee cup emojis.
Stellato said in the video that she would “never understand why people get on the plane and order coffee and then assume I’m a psychic.” She explained that typically, when a passenger orders “Coffee,” she serves them a black coffee. She then described being “2 rows away now serving the next people” when the same passenger asks, “Oh, can I have cream and sugar?”
The flight attendant appeared to beg the general public in the video, stating, “I am begging, begging you, I’m begging the general public, please tell me how you take your coffee.” She also highlighted her wish for passengers to “tell me how you take your coffee instead of assuming I’m a psychic,” addressing a common issue she faces.
Flight attendant highlights specificity in coffee orders on the ground versus in the air
In the video, Stellato acted out the scenario, showing herself serving a black coffee after a simple order. She emphasized that she would “literally give you as much cream and sugar as you want” if asked initially. Stellato questioned why passengers do not order “a coffee with cream and sugar” or “a coffee with sugar” from the start.
According to the video’s creator, she drew a comparison to ordering coffee at a popular chain, stating, “When you go to Starbucks, you order a coffee exactly how you want it.” Stellato questioned why this same level of specificity is not applied when ordering on an airplane.
The flight attendant maintained that if one orders “a coffee at Starbucks,” they are “getting a black coffee” unless they specify otherwise. She appeared to be pleading with viewers to apply this same logic to their in-flight beverage requests.
Stellato concluded her video by explaining that her strong feelings on the matter stemmed from having just worked an overnight flight. She reiterated that this particular issue is “just one of my biggest pet peeves and I’ll never understand it.” The video’s caption stated, “I just needed sleep I’m better now ☕️.”
Many viewers appeared to empathize with the flight attendant’s frustration, sharing their own experiences and suggestions in the comments section. Some comments included: Stellato’s pet peeve about in-flight drink orders is far from the only beverage mix-up flight attendants have gone viral over, such as one attendant who said Coca-Cola’s new can designs left her handing out the wrong Coke all week.
