A TikTok video posted by creator Roodabeguh, who goes by the handle @roodabeguh, shows an encounter between the owner of what appears to be a small pet-related business and two uniformed NYPD officers. The video, which appears to have been filmed on a sidewalk outside a building with a blue awning, captures the owner speaking with the officers while a pug lies in the foreground.
On-screen text in the video reads: “POV: The NYPD try to Shutdown your Pug Bakery Petting Zoo But you have a Permit.” The video’s caption includes the hashtags #pug and #roodabeguh. It is not clear from the footage what specifically prompted the officers to be at the location, and the video does not show them taking any enforcement action.
The clip has drawn a wide range of reactions in its comment section, with viewers debating the interaction and offering their own reads on what took place.
The owner addresses the officers, then offers them bread
The video opens with a view of the street outside the building. Two NYPD officers, both women in uniform, stand near the entrance. A pug is visible lying in the foreground, and a table with various items, including what appears to be a green juicer and a small fan, sits nearby.
The owner, who is speaking from behind the camera, begins by asking the officers, “Hello, what’s going on?” The camera briefly pans to the pug, and the owner comments, “You see he’s iced out.”
The owner then appears to address the officers directly, saying, “Okay, I’m not, I’m not in front of it. I’m just saying, you just don’t— do not go in their business.” The owner adds, “I never did.” The two officers appear to listen, with one of them gesturing slightly.
The owner continues, saying, “Okay, all right, keep the business alone.” The owner then shifts tone and asks, “Okay, can— wait, wait, wait, can I offer you a loaf of bread?” One of the officers responds, “No thank you.” The owner follows up by asking, “Complimentary butter?” The officer replies, “No good.” The owner then concludes the exchange by saying, “Okay, have a great day.”
The video does not show how the encounter began or how it ended after that final exchange. It is not clear from the footage whether the officers had spoken with the owner before recording started, or what their reason for being at the location was. Filmed standoffs between residents and uniformed officers at their own properties have surfaced elsewhere too, such as a man filming Boston police and a co-response clinician on his porch asking about his mom.
Commenters weigh in on the exchange
The video’s comment section filled up with reactions from viewers, many of whom focused on the owner’s choice to offer the officers food during the interaction.
One commenter wrote, “She came looking for a fight and you didn’t give it to it to them! 🤣 Good job bro” Another viewer offered a different read, writing, “The business obviously reported you.”
Some commenters focused on the officers themselves. One person commented, “Nypd jus be hiring anyone,” while another wrote, “She’s rude.” One viewer appeared to question the owner’s message, commenting, “‘Leave their business alone’ meanwhile he never even went in 😭”
Others brought humor into the thread. One commenter joked, “just tell them you’re with Captain Raymond Holt from the 99th precinct and they’ll leave you be,” referencing the fictional police captain from the television show Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
As of this writing, it is not clear whether the business faced any further action from the NYPD, or whether the officers returned to the location after the video was recorded.
